“Nigga” is arguably one of the most controversial words in the English language. But on his latest single, “I’m a Nigga”, rapper Jeff Chery flips bad connotations and reclaims the word. “People classify some of the younger generation as niggas or being ratchet, having car notes we can’t afford and spending our last dollars on clothes. I’m glorifying that and saying, ‘I’m happy to be a nigga, so now what?'” says Jeff of the track, which was produced by Jae Monae.
To illustrate the satirical concept, Jeff teamed up with director Open Gates, who also shot his videos for “The People” and “Jetset Vagabond”. Filmed entirely in Atlanta, the visual embodies a “nigga” lifestyle of expensive condos, private chefs, seductive women, the finest cigars, high-end clubs — and doing what makes you happy.
Long Island, NY (April 7, 2013) Panamanian, Pop/R&B Fusion artist, DioMara from Long Island, NY, releases her first singleTo The Top featuring rapper TuNe$ off of her debut EP Black Pearls. This song was produced by Hazali of FortheLovers Music, who was recently featured on NBC News for creating a music production program in Brooklyn’s elementary school and is currently adding the program in other elementary schools. With only the snippet of the song released a few weeks ago, DioMara has been receiving great responses of the song and has been compared to R&B’s greatest singers like Monica, Brandy andBeyonce.
DioMara incorporates different genres in her music, which is why she created her own genre Pop/R&B Fusion. Her sound and lyrics are pop and r&b base but her music is a mixture of different genres. She doesn’t want to be boxed into one category like many other artists. She is letting her audience know now so that it doesn’t surprise them later when they hear a song that is completely different from the other. She believes in her craft, and as a writer, singer and performer she is a perfectionist. She wants her listeners to love every song she makes. Her goal is to have longevity in the music industry.
Currently, she is working with Hazali, who is the executive producer of her debut EP called Black Pearls. The chemistry between the two is authentic. The soulful productions by Hazali and the melodic and heartfelt lyrics by DioMara create enchanting music. After hearing the music by this duo or seeing a performance from DioMara, the audience will leave humming the melodies or singing the words after hearing it once. This is a project everyone wants to make sure they have on their playlist. Black Pearls is set to be released Spring/Summer 2013!
